Weekend

Wow, what a weekend, I know it's Wednesday....but my weekend is Sunday/Monday...Saturday night was Tawnja's birthday, so we all went to the Grand for cocktails (duck farts), and appetizers...yummy seared ahi, coconut shrimp (my fave)...it was really fun. I do have photos, but alas forgot my camera today. Sunday, of course was Super Bowl. I unintentionally wore Arizona Cardinals colors, so I had to root for them. Didn't really care who won, I happened to win $100 1st quarter score...YAY AND The Boss at 1/2 time was incredible....I've always been a Springsteen fan, in fact, I think he was put on this earth for me. We just never met....Scott understands this and is okay with it (well, ALMOST okay)....

Sherrie got in last night from Seattle....we were sweating it a little, due to reports of a huge storm coming our way, not to mention the Volcano wanting to erupt any second...she coulda been stuck in Anchorage for a long time. Luckily it didn't happen.

It has been insane at work! No fish means processors aren't working, and with nothing to do and no money, they frequent the library to check their e-mail, check out books, etc. These people come in from all over the world, and don't get me wrong, I like (was gonna say love, LOL) my job....but the viruses they bring in from wherever they are from, all mingle with each other and it's hard to fend off. They are coughing, sneezing, blowing their noses, wiping their noses on whatever happens to be in front of them...I am CONSTANTLY washing my hands and using hand sanitizer as well as spraying Lysol around...I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just susceptible to colds and flu....one of my co-workers has been out sick for almost 2 weeks, the cook at the Crab Pot Deli has been out for 2 weeks...I just don't want to get sick...HELP! I started feeling icky last night, feel a little better today, but I can feel something a-brewin...any suggestions to ward this off?

Oh well, my point was, the last thing I've felt like doing is getting on the computer, so I haven't blogged for a few days. I will get back into it....post some photos and pray I don't catch a bug.

Have a great week everyone!

  1. Lauri--we are soul sisters--I am a Springsteen fan from way back!! I just blogged about him on Superbowl Sunday, too. LOL My family's from South Jersey originally. I have seen him in concert 8 times. (That's nothing compared to hard core fans!) When my daughter and hubby lived in Ft. Collins, CO, we planned two trips to visit them around Bruce's concert dates in Denver. LOL

  2. Lauri, if you want I'll brew you up a potent Yarrow tea that will knock that cold on its butt. My mom swears by it and never gets sick. Its an ancient Unangan secret...just ask Peet.

  3. When I lived in L.A....I saw him EVERY time he came in concert, you should see my "Bruce" scrapbook! He is playing June 11-14 at the Bonnaroo Festival near Nashville, TN. My wonderful fiance said if I want to go, he would take me. He's such a doll! I knew I liked you :)

  4. I would LOVE a home brewed Yarrow tea! I bought some yarrow lip balm from your mom a few years back and LOVED it! Does she still make that too?

  5. I would love to see your Bruce scrapbook--you might be a bigger fan than I am! I just have some old ticket stubs somewhere. :) But lots of memories. I was hoping he'd be in Jersey when we are there in June, but he's in Europe by then. I am bummed! You should definitely go to Bonnaroo if you can!! I didn't realize he was gonna be there. Yes, anyone who's a Springsteen fan is ALL RIGHT! And yes, our men have to be okay with the Bruce thing...who could be with a guy who doesn't get it??!!

My kids were raised listening to Springsteen, of course. One time when they were pretty small, my ex (their dad) was trying to get them to settle down at the dinner table. He asked them a couple of times to be quiet and when they still weren't, he got kind of exasperated and asked, "who's the boss, anyway?!" Honestly, all three of these little girls chimed in without any hesitation, "Bruuuuuuuce!!" One of my all time favorite stories that we still crack up about.

  6. I'm kind of confused about him being in Bonnaroo, just before that he will be in Finland, then just after in Sweden...sooooo he will have to fly back, play in TN, then fly BACK...he IS the boss.

I love that story about "who's the boss"...girls after my own heart. I will crack up about that now, too!

  7. Yeah, I just went to his website and it says he is taking a little break from Europe to go to Bonnaroo....then back...too bad we will not be in TN instead of NJ at the time. I don't suppose I can work anything out now that we already have plans. You will have to tell me all about it!! Do you need a "Jersey Girl" Tshirt to wear?! :)

  9. Yay! It's true, I may get to see him after all...I just thought that's an awful lot of flying, poor Boss....will be tired, but he puts on such an awesome show! I'll let you know if I get tickets, then may borrow your "Jersey Girl" t-shirt, thanks! Did you notice if tickets are on sale through his website????

Okay, Cookie, DVD is renewed, and no fines (shhhhh!)....I also ordered JAG S-8...but will be awhile before I get it. And, you can have more than 2, cancha?

  11. Yeah, there is a link from his site to the Bonnaroo site. Looks like tickets go on sale on Feb. 7. They are pricey but I guess it's for the whole festival so maybe not so bad.

  13. I'm going to his site RIGHT NOW!!!! We really hadn't planned to go to the whole festival, I just want to see Bruce and if he's playing all 4 days...I'm THERE!! Wheeeeeee

  14. OK, so I'm not a Bruce fan, but do have to admit, it was one of the better half time shows. Glad he did some of his old tunes that we all enjoy! I can sympathize with you about the people coming in from all over and bringing their "sickness" with them. Florida is know for that - all the snowbirds come down and bring their colds, flu, etc... and then we all get sick too! Bad time of year right now. Take care - I use Zicam and Airbourne. Have to use these before you really get sick though. Seems to help ease the sickness, even if you do get sick.

  15. Hey Lauri, what's the ticket update?!! The new album is great...did you download?

  16. I haven't researched it fully yet...but I'm pretty sure you have to buy an all-inclusive festival ticket....for all 4 days...AND I'm not sure if there are any hotel/motels around...all they talk about is RV parking...I don't have an RV and I'm too old to camp out (well, when I do camp out I LOOK like I've been camping, (I need a blow dryer and curling iron) LOL

I haven't d/led it yet....I'm having my bosses wife do it for me..she's really into i-tunes...i'm embarrased to say I'm not that good at that! I can't wait to hear it!
